A New Year: My Precious Queen 2011

Sometimes, like real life, Second Life has a way of leading us on adventures that we don't expect. These adventures are full of twists and turns, oftentimes bringing us to places where serendipity awaits us. This is what happened on my journey during the second portion of 2010, a journey that culminated in a wonderful surprise for me on December 18th, my being selected as My Precious Queen 2011. The final selection came completely unexpected to me because I was standing on the stage in the midst of a fabulous group of women, all who would have been incredible choices as the winner.

Experienced models, photographers, magazine writers, modeling instructors were among them, all talented and accomplished women, and all a good representation of the elegant type of woman drawn to the My Precious Queen contest throughout the year. This is one of the most special parts of being chosen to win the contest. The winner receives the magnificent honor of representing Agnes Finney's fashion house, and she also receives this - the honor of representing the beautiful, talented women who compete in the My Precious Queen contest all year long. It is humbling and amazing.

Throughout the duration of the contest, at each stage of the competition, I learned so much and had a wonderful time doing it. I never entered My Precious Queen with the intention of winning, for I knew that competition was fierce, and I was not a model when I first entered - I knew very little about what it took to win such a contest. But I knew from the beginning that it would be a terrific experience, and I managed to keep a lighthearted and stress-free perspective during the journey to the final. Fast forward to the final moments when I was standing on the stage, and sitting on the edge of my seat here in what we call real life, at my computer, my hands shaking so badly that I could barely type or navigate the runway. The top three finalists were announced, and when my name was among them, I think I even stopped breathing for a moment. When my name was not announced as second and first runner up, I nearly fell out of my chair. I've been asked how it felt at the moment when my name was finally announced, and I've really struggled to find the best words to describe such a feeling. Elation would be accurate, and amazement comes even closer. Simply said, it was wonderful. What a spectacular early Christmas gift it was to be selected as My Precious Queen 2011.

I am excited about what lies ahead during the next six months. I will be representing Agnes Finney's My Precious fashion house at events, in shows, and at other activities to come. This blog, Behind The Throne, is a new project I am taking on and will be one for future My Precious Queens, as well. Here, I will write about this journey, and in addition to introducing you more to the woman behind My Precious Queen 2011, I'll also be introducing you to new releases as well as my personal time-honored favorites designed by the talented Agnes Finney. We are going to have a great time!

For now, I would like to send you and yours my warmest wishes for a happy and prosperous new year. May the coming year be filled with peace and love, and all of the joy you can handle. See you in 2011!

Janina's thought about being My Precious Queen 2010

First I would like to say that this year has been extraordinary for me. If you had asked me when I rezzed into SL over 2 years ago what I would be doing now I would have not even expected to say I would be spending this entire year as the first My Precious Queen. But the goals I set for myself after walking through Agnes' shop one day became a reality this year as I was crowned queen and represented one of the most prestigious fashion houses in Second Life.

Janina wearing the super hot Jocelyn lace dress in AVENUE magazine.

To the royal princesses and the new queen I want to tell you that every one of you deserves to be queen because of your style, elegance, warmth, and personality that I have come to know through meeting each of you. Unfortunately I cannot be there to welcome you as the new queen, but know that I will always be available if you need to ask questions or just talk about anything.

I especially would like to thank Mui for her kindness and friendship this year and for helping me to gain more confidence in being both a queen and a model for My Precious. To Will I want to say thank you for your graciousness to me when I was here modeling for you and Agnes. Lastly, I want to thank Agnes for welcoming me into the My Precious family and turning me into a beautiful elegant queen in every picture you took of me and in every dress you gave me to wear.

Grand Elegance - Queen Arden Supreme Black

Grand elegance describes the lovely supreme gown created by Agnes Finney called Queen Arden Supreme.   The lovely skirt and train sweeps out into graceful curves.  The lace bodice is accented by the lovely black bow below it.  The lovely fur sleeves give it a look for winter balls and dances in the snow.

I used the Christmas Hat from Earth & Sky Designs Christmas outfit and the lovely jewelry is from Gems & Kisses called Sole Platinum.

This is my last blog entry here.   In two weeks another the next queen of 2011 will be chosen and begin her journey as the new My Precious Queen.  I wish her much love and luck and I am excited to see what she has in store for us in her blog for the coming year.

Queen of Legend

The last gown that I wore at the November Fashion show was the Agnes Queen of Legend.  This royal blue gown as a regal train, white snowflakes delicately scattered around the hem of the dress, and a lovely bow of gold stars that attaches to the back with queen red roses.  The upper bodice has a lace rose accent.  This is the dress I wore at the first My Precious Queen competition last January.  It is one of an exquisite line of Queen gowns that Agnes has created.  Every woman that wears it will feel like a queen in it.  Underneath the gown I am wearing a gorgeous pair of white Bare Katherines from Stiletto Moody.

Adorning my head is the Queen Posesiva Crown by Alienbear Gupte, and I am also wearing the Queen Posesiva Necklace and Earrings as well as carrying the Scepter from the set.   My hair is by Tukinowaguma called Sorasoul Ebony, and it is one of the new ones that was brought out in November.  All together the ensemble succeeds in creating the look of an elegant royal queen.

My Precious Queen Janina Gown

This is another of the gowns I wore in the November My Precious Fashion Show.  I love this gown, not just because it is named after me, but also because it is elegant and the colors it comes in (red, blue, and pink) are all so rich and vibrant.  This is the gown that Agnes designed for the winner of the competition last January, and she named it after me and made the other colors which I have worn on different occasions. The red is perfect for the holiday season.  My Jewelry (crown, earrings, and necklace) is the My Precious Queen Special Set designed by Alienbear Gupte for the 2010 competition. If you look carefully at the front of the crown you will see a delicate butterfly fashioned into it.  The butterfly is one of Agnes's favorite things and represents My Precious.   I will treasure both the gown and the jewelry because it represents the honor and privilege I was given when I was selected to be 2010 Queen.

On my feet I am wearing the lovely Stiletto Moody Bare Brigitte Red-Nude.  They are simply awesome shoes and can go with so many things.  They make your feet and legs look pretty sexy too!   Below is a close up of the lovely jewelry set and the Tukinowaguma hair Selma B.  I really love this style it can be worn for many things.  It comes in two versions, version A with the pony tail in back (above)  and version B  without the ponytail (below). Its a lovely style when wearing a crown.

Agnes Finney Fashion House November Fashion Show

On November 20th, I had the privilege of participating in the My Precious November Fashion Show at the My Precious Dream Runway.  I was given the honor of presenting 5 of the Royal Princesses that will be competing in next weekends My Precious Queen Semifinals.  During the show, I wore 3 of Agnes's gorgeous designs, including the one I am wearing here called Jocelyn White Short.  This is one of there versions of the Jocelyn Series. This is a lovely snow white mini dress made of lace.  It is body hugging and shows off my lovely curves.  If you like dresses that show lots of leg, this one is for you.

On my feet I am wearing a sexy pair of Stiletto Moody's Bare Ginger White.  My hair is a new design from Tukinowaguma called Sophia + White Flowers.    I added the cute Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly 1.2 designed by Don Bricklin do add a bit of imaginative styling and magic to it   The earrings I am wearing are from Alienbear Gupte called Pandora Earrings White and a must for any wardrobe this winter season.

There were many other beautiful designs from Agnes featured in the show.  And the Royal Princesses did an excellent job during the presentation.  They all deserve recognition and a chance for the honor of being My Precious Queen 2011.

All Hallows Eve Couture - Lucia, Queen of the Night

One of the most romantic and mysterious characters of Halloween is the queen of the night.  The gown, Queen Lucia Grandeur Red, would be just the dress such a character would wear.  This exquisite red and black ball gown has a beautifully designed lace crop bodice with low neckline.  The long sheer arms of the top end in sheer fluffy black feminine sleeves.  The gorgeous red skirt attaches at the hips allowing a bit of sexy skin to be shown. After all, a vampiress must seduce her victim. Finally, on my feet I wear Stiletto Moody PinUp Stilettos in BadSeed.

And every queen must have her royal jewels.  Alienbear Gupte took her Queen Rosie set and updated it when she designed Bloody Queen Rohesia, a beautiful set with crown, ring, earrings, and necklace adorned with bloody red roses. The set was created to go with Queen Lucia Grandeur Red.  The bloody red color of the stones looks exquisite and match the gown's colors perfectly. (Due to prim limit the crown attaches in two places and comes with its own facelight.  For more details on the making of this set please see  Alienbear's Blog.) My hair is lovely romantic style called Miranda in Night by Truth  Hawks.  It also comes with the option of streaks of different color.  My skin is a beautiful vampire skin called Hope Gothic 10 from Tuli, and my eyeliner and lashes are by -::Axe Wear::-.   A most beautiful way to end the month of October and Halloween.

All Hallows Eve Couture - ..... Put a Spell On You!

What would Halloween be without that sexy lady in black riding her broomstick around the night sky?  Thats right.  And any witch would look simply glamourous in Agnes Finney's Serene Romance Dress in Black.  The fluttery skirt adds femininity while the lace bodice of the dress accentuates the curves and has a way of whispering subtle hints of sexiness.  This dress also comes in white and pink, too.  So you should get one of each color - pink, black and white.
My black ankle boots are by Bax Coen.  These boots are very versatile because you can change their color, heel, and the ankle accents by clicking on them and using the handy blue menu.

My avantgarde witch hat is Agnes's Rose Tower Hat.  It comes in red and white as well.  It is the perfect hat for the couture witch.  The hat is actually two pieces places on top of each other that resembles a sculpture of black roses, the perfect color for Halloween.  It is one of my favorite hats made by her.

For this entry, I chose to wear a dekade skin called BARDOT Agnes Tan since it is has a lovely autumn tone to it.  I especially love the matte lips. The jewelry set I am wearing is one of the newest from Alienbear Gupte.  It is Phantom in Red and Black.  The design is mystical and perfect for any dress with a low cut decolletage.

All Hallows Eve Couture from Agnes Finney

For my last few blogs for October I am going to show some of the fabulous creations from Agnes Finney that are wonderful costumes ideas for Halloween.

This first one is the Fairy Princess Pink Dress.  I chose pink because October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month.  It is something that has personal significance to me because I am a breast cancer survivor since the age of 28 years old (almost three years ago).  So I thought it would be fitting that this dress would be my first one.

The skirt on this dress resembles an open pink rose.  The texture glows and resembles a fine taffeta. The bodice has a satiny shimmer and is trimmed with lovely roses along the top.

Stiletto Moody's Silver Bare Katherines seem to add a shimmer to my feet.  My Aphrodite wings are by Violaine Villota and they have scripts so you can open them, close them or make them flutter.  My jewelry is the glowing Sakura Set that Alienbear did for the Relay For Life 2010 Clothing Fair. The Miranda Hair in Expresso and White Widow Fairy Tattoo in Pink complete my ethereal appearance.

~Wings of Lace Part II~

This is another version of the Queen of Lace gown complete set.  This exquisite set comes with three different skirt versions.  In the previous entry I showed you the Queen of Lace gown with the long flowing skirt with train.  In this entry, I am wearing version 2 of the gown. The skirt in this is tea length and has a bell shape, and the layering helps add fullness.   I love the way the skirt swirls around me as I dance.  The lace texture that Agnes uses in this gown is beautiful and any woman who wears this creation while feel elegant and feminine in it.

The lovely wings are the same as the ones in the previous entry, but this time I have given you  a better look at the back so that you can see the intricate detail and rose that is placed where the wings come together at the back and attach at the spine.

To style this design I am wearing Baiastice Ballerina Swarovski Flats in White, along with Gems & Kisses Butterfly Earrings and Choker in White.  My hair attachment is Donna Updo in Platinum from Miamai.

~On Wings of Lace~

Agnes is a extraordinary designer of lace gowns.  Her newest one, Queen of Lace, is by far one of her best.  The elegant flowing skirt gathers at the lace around the hips, and the same lace covers the torso in a diamond halter design with ribbon around the neck. The exquisite lace wings that attach to the back have a lovely white rose where they come together.  This design is definitely one that will make you feel like a fairytale queen.

To create an even more royal appearance I wear the KrisCar Crown, Sceptre, and Earrings in Gold and White.  This brilliant set was created by Alienbear Gupte and it is one of my favorites.  My Lillian hair is a lovely shade called Treacle from Truth Hawks.  I am also wearing the [White Widow Tattoo] Butterfly by Stan Jigsaw. These tattoos are a lovely accompaniment to any gown.  Finally I am wearing the Bare Marilyn Stilettos in Nude from Stilleto Moody.  This photo was taken on Location at The Rose Theater in Angel Manor.

Vintage Elegance

I love the way the actresses dressed for a night out in the old movies from the 1940's big band era.  This gown, Vivienne, by Agnes Finney, resembles that look of the past when women dressed with an allure and elegance that got them noticed anywhere they went. The gown has a lace bodice with keyhole detailing down the front to accentuate the cleavage and add sexiness to the dress. The satin skirt drapes luxuriously down the body. The lace boa lays softly on the shoulders, and the lovely black gloves,  give this gown an even more vintage couture look.

The back of the dress is beautifully done with the detailing of the lace bodice that has a low cut back and the train that extends from the the long skirt. Any woman who wears this will look beautiful arriving and leaving her destination.

Along with the gown I wear the Eileen Black Fur Hat also by Agnes Finney.  This hat has the lovely netting in front of the face which resembles many couture hats I have seen in RL.  I love hats, and this one exudes elegance with its black rose and feather accents.  The brilliant earrings I am wearing are Shoka by Chop Zuey.  They had a bit of sparkle from under the lovely netting of the splendid hat upon  my head.  My hair is from Purple Moon called Nat in Ebony from their awesome line of runway hair that seem to fit wonderfully with the hat and complete my look.

Agnes Finney Couture - Maria in Red

Agnes Finney has designed a luscious deep red and black gown to add to her couture line of designs in SL.  Agnes Maria Couture Edition Red is a beautiful flowing strapless gown with roses to accent the front near the top. gloves, and a matching bouquet of roses hat for your head.  You will definitely need to get this gown to fully appreciate the shimmering color as well as the way the skirt and train flow as you walk and turn especially when you are out on the dance floor. The see-thru black skirt in front allows everyone who watches a seductive glimpse of your legs.  The gown comes with match Agnes Rose hat that can be resized to fit any hairstyle. Here I am wearing it with Stiletto Moody Bare Vivien Open Toe Pumps and earrings and necklace from Alienbear's Natasja Gold.

My Precious August Fashion Show

Every month on a Saturday Agnes Finney has a fashion extravaganza at her My Precious Fashion Runway. Actually she has two on the same day so that all the lovely princesses and their friends and loved ones can attend from the different timezones.   Being My Precious Queen allows me to participate in these lovely events.  This months shows were an wonderful experience for all. The four My Precious Models and I were given exquisite gowns and dresses to wear as well as sparkling jewelry by Alienbear Gupte and shoes to die for from Stiletto Moody.
For this show, I was given the wonderful privilege to wear the lovely cocktail dress, Mui Cocktail Dress in Black.  This luscious creation was named after the stylishly elegant woman, Mui Mukerji, the COO of Alienbear and My Precious Style Consultant. Mui has an superb eye for style and is one of the best modeling instructors I have had in SL.  Here I am wearing that dress for both of the fashion shows wearing Stiletto Moody Bare Judy in Black and  Alienbear River of Love Jewel set to complete my look. My hair is the Monica Hair in Caviar from Bliss Couture. As you can see this dress is very sensual yet elegant with the low cut neckline of the lace bodice which draws attention to the lovely curves of the cleavage.   The skirt adds to the beauty of the dress, flowing as the I turn with graceful ease and allowing others to see a glimpse of my lovely legs .  This is definitely a dress to wear out for dancing if you want to have the attention of your special someone all evening!  :))

Here is a picture of the lovely River of Love Jewel Set from Alienbear Gupte.  It is an exquisite set that I wanted you to see up close.  It shimmers and sparkles in the light, and the earrings and necklace both have that lovely shape of love pouring out of the hearts.  This is one of Alienbear's most luxurious sets.

Narcisse

Once of the things I love about Agnes Finney's gowns is that she can allow a woman to be feminine as well as sexy.  Narcisse Supreme is one of those types of gowns. The lace in the bodysuit covers just enough to make things interesting to the eye, yet looks elegant as well.  The chiffon skirt with peek-a-boo slit allows me to show off my legs and adds ease to movement. This gown also comes with chiffon sleeves, a cocktail length skirt, and interchangeable tops.
Its easy to be  a seductive nymph in the forest in this gown when I wear it with my NX Absinthe Ebony Stilettos, and Mimmi Set in Black from Alienbear.  My hair is the lovely hair attachment from Baiastice called Boop in Brown.

The Grandeur of Brigitte

I love anything that Agnes does with lace, and this gown is no exception! Brigitte Grandeur gown has a white lace illusion bodice with decolletage that ends at a black bow.  The enchanting long black mermaid skirt and train with lace trim creates a balance with the white lace.  To make this gown even more formal it comes with a matching pair of black gloves.  When I wore this gown I immediately felt more elegant, more like a queen.  This gown will definitely make any woman turn heads as she walks into a room.  To add more to the grandeur of the gown, I wore Alienbear's exquisite Mayur Necklace and Earrings set  and Stiletto Moody Bare Katherine. both in Black.  My hair is Bliss Couture Monica hair in Caviar, one of the best updo hairs I have seen in SL.
Our monthly Fashion show will occur on August 21st at 9 am and 5 pm and you will be able to see this as well as many other gowns in Agnes's store and in the fashion show on the Agnes Finney sim.  Hope to see you there. The Royal Princesses for July will be presented at the beginning of the show as well.  This is a must-see event!

My First Royal Post

Welcome to my blog.  I am Janina Scarmon, and in January 2010 I was crowned the first My Precious Queen from My Precious and Agnes Finney Designs.  I felt truly honored to be chosen as the representative for such a famous SL design house. Agnes Finney is definitely one of the great trendsetter designers in SL.
That day in January changed my life completely in SL.  I have the opportunity to model Agnes's elegant designs with Alienbear's exquisite jewelry every month at the My Precious Fashion shows, as well as represent the Agnes Finney Design House at various events, including the benefit fashion shows for autism and other causes. I am also a model for several agencies including AVENUE, SuperElite, JOL Trendy, and IMA, and a live model, or TopGem, for Gems & Kisses.
I try to keep updated with my look and in the trends of fashion in SL researching about current fashion trends in SL and RL.  I read numerous fashion blogs, attend other fashion shows, and visit the shops of the fabulous designers in Second Life.  I have always felt that these fabulously talented people are an essential part of the artistic and creative part of SL. Without them we would probably all be walking around in the same colored clothes hair, and shoes with the same walk that we are given when we entered SL making it a very dull place indeed.
My private time in SL is spent at my home with my partner, Rinn Silversmith, a wonderful man I met in SL who has supported me through both competing in Miss Virtual World 2010 as Miss USA, and My Precious Queen.  We have a very special and loving relationship.  We love spending time together exploring the colorful and interesting places, as well as creating items for our lovely home here. I also love to do SL hunts where I find wonderful treasures to add to my SL home or styling myself for everyday or fashion shows. One of my favorite hunts was the Platinum Hunt.
Well, its time to end this post. Looking forward to the next one and I hope you are too.
